Parents VS Teenagers
There are many rules that I follow at my house, but some are more serious than others. One major rule that my parent’s push is school always comes before sports. This rule comes in play almost eight of the nine months during the school year. Another very important rule is that I should treat others, as I want to be treated. Most parents have the same rule, but my parents are very serious about the way I treat other people.
On the other hand some of the rules can be very flexible. I really don’t have a bedtime because of practices and homework, so that rule is very flexible. Other rules that can be flexible are chores. Chores are not really rules but they are still things that you are expected to do. Sometimes Mom and Dad do my chores for me because I am so busy. That helps me out a lot during busy weekends.
Being ineligible is out of the question at my house, and I understand that. If I were ever to become ineligible I would miss the time that school issues plus at least another week. I really don’t get in trouble enough for serious consequences, but the worst consequences I have ever faced were not being able to go turkey hunting. If I do get in trouble I don’t argue about it because that usually makes things worse. Even if I did have a point the punishment would stand because I usually still deserve it.
So you notice that there are many rules at my house that are flexible and some that are no so flexible. I try to follow those rules as closely as I can so that I don’t get punished or grounded for any length of time.
